Old Town AlUla is a labyrinth of some 900 mudbrick dwellings, 400 shops, and five town squares, raised beneath the tenth-century Musa bin Nusayr Castle and once a stop on the pilgrimage route from Damascus to Makkah. After decades of abandonment it is being returned, carefully, to public life.
For the Royal Commission for AlUla, Amsy Group restored the Old Town's shops, booths, and banisters, renewed part of the electrical infrastructure, and fabricated illuminated heritage wood pillars for the Main District, compliant with the county's dark-sky policies. Completed in 2021, the project was delivered Design & Build.
